The Forgotten Crowns {small} Tapestry
36 × 52 inches
This is a smaller print of The Forgotten Crowns tapestry - an original painting by Phoebe Stout. It was inspired by medieval castle tapestries, Scottish landscape paintings, and capricci - which were paintings that combined fantasy elements with recognizable architectural structures in dreamlike settings.
The original painting was done on antique hand-loomed hemp from France. You can see the seam of the original fabric panels running down the center of the painting. That detail was intentionally left in the print to honor the original cloth.
The lands depicted in this painting were created entirely from my imagination. I hope that you get lost in the images that they conjure, and that they bring magic to ordinary days.
If you’d like to read the story of this scene, you can do so here: The Forgotten Crowns tale
Printed in the United States on 6.4 oz linen/cotton canvas.
The edges of each tapestry are cut and frayed by hand, giving these a lovely texture and feel of an old textile that might have been pulled out of a dusty trunk, long forgotten in the eaves of a castle.
Each tapestry comes with eight antique-brass finish tacks to use for hanging. (4 large and 4 small)
Edges of each print have been brushed with fray stop to prevent any further fraying in case you’d like to wash your tapestry.
Care instructions : Hand wash in cool water with mild detergent. Hang to dry or tumble dry on low setting. Iron on linen setting.
Tapestry will be folded for shipping. To remove creases, I suggest steaming or lightly spraying map with water and then either iron, or put in the dryer for a few minutes.
This is the half-scale tapestry, which means it is half the size of the original painting. It is approximately 36 × 52 inches
