Nox Abit Tapestry

$124.00

26.5 × 31.5 inches

This map is a print of an original painting by Phoebe Stout.

The composition was inspired by the Psalter world map, which was a small “mappa mundi” (cloth of the world) from the 13th century.

The imagery and words included in this map are ones of hope and resilience. “dies veniet iterem” is Latin for “day will come again” and “nox abit” means “night is passing”. The dragons watch over the world - protecting us. Soldiers ride with a banner that reads “for freedom”. A Phoenix rises in the sky above the land.

There is always hope.

The lands depicted in this painting were created entirely from my imagination. I hope that you get lost in the stories that they conjure, and that they bring magic to ordinary days.

Printed in the United States on 6.4 oz linen/cotton canvas.

Once printed, I carefully cut each map and fray the edges by hand, giving these a texture and feeling of an old tapestry.

Each map comes with eight antique-brass finish tacks to use for hanging. (4 large and 4 small) Gently tap the tacks into the surface where you are hanging the map, with a hammer. I think these look best showing the raw edges of the linen, but they are also beautiful framed. I love the way they look hanging on a door, as well.

Edges of each print have been brushed with fray stop to prevent any further fraying in case you’d like to wash your map.

Care instructions : Hand wash in cool water with mild detergent. Hang to dry. Iron on cotton or linen setting.

Map will be folded for shipping. To remove creases, I suggest lightly spraying map with water and then either iron or put in the dryer for a few minutes.

Size of map is approximately 26.5 × 31.5 inches
